Rather than three days in Rome, three days of Umbria: Assisi, Orvieto and the ceramic workshops of Deruta, where a piece can be commissioned, finished after departure and shipped home. A final night in Rome before the port transfer.
Arrival at Fiumicino and transfer north into Umbria, around two hours, with a stop at Orvieto for the striped cathedral facade and lunch in the town. Arrival at the base near Perugia in the afternoon. Dinner at the estate.
Morning at Assisi and the Basilica di San Francesco, with the Giotto cycle seen before the coaches arrive, and time in the upper town afterwards. Lunch in the hills. Afternoon at Spello and its Roman gates, or free at the base.
Morning at the ceramic workshops of Deruta, where a piece can be chosen or commissioned directly from the maker, finished after departure and shipped home. Lunch in the town. Afternoon transfer to Rome, with the final night in the city. Farewell dinner in Trastevere.
Morning at leisure in Rome, then transfer to Civitavecchia, around ninety minutes, in time for boarding.
